Do you metformin side effects 1000 mg know Kate Moore? Well, she happens to be the newest texting champion of the U.S.! Her texting habit raked her $50,000! Below is the news from Yahoo.
NEW YORK – The nation’s newest texting champion has a message for parents across the land — although they might not want to hear it.
“Let your kid text during dinner! Let your kid text during school! It pays off,” 15-year-old Kate Moore said Tuesday after winning the LG U.S. National Texting Championship.
After all, she said: “Your kid could win money and publicity and a phone.”
For the Des Moines, Iowa, teenager, her 14,000 texts-per-month habit reaped its own rewards, landing her the competition prize of $50,000 just eight months after she got her first cell phone.
Moore, with a speedy and accurate performance, beat out 20 other finalists from around the country over two days of challenges such as texting blindfolded and texting while maneuvering through a moving obstacle course.
In the final showdown, she outtexted 14-year-old Morgan Dynda, of Savannah, Ga. Both girls had to text three lengthy phrases without making any mistakes on the required abbreviations, capitalization or punctuation. Moore squeaked through by a few seconds on the tiebreaking text, getting the best two out of three. As she anxiously waited for confirmation of her win, tears streamed down her face.
The teen dismisses the idea that she focuses too much on virtual communications, saying that while she has sometimes had her phone taken away from her in school, she keeps good grades, performs in school plays and socializes with friends — in person — on the weekends.
In between, she finds time to send about 400 to 470 texts a day. Among her uses of the text messages? Studying for exams with friends, which she says is better done by text because she can look back at the messages to review.
The finalists, all 22 or younger, were among 250,000 people who tried to get spots in the competition. Some won their spots at the Manhattan finals by being the fastest people to text responses to televised ads.
It’s the third year for the texting competition, sponsored by LG Electronics Inc.’s mobile-phones division. But it’s the first time that it was held at a flashy sound stage with an illuminated platform and surrounded by TV cameras. LG, based in Seoul, South Korea, is considering using the footage in a televised special of some kind.
Twenty-year-old Jackie Boyd, who came in fifth in the competition, said she usually prefers text messages to phone calls because they get through faster and they’re more private — leaving her unworried about other people listening in.
“You can get more of what you really truly want to say” across with texting, said the Syracuse University psychology major. “Especially if it’s an argument, you don’t have to worry about saying the wrong thing.
“And if you don’t want to respond, you can always say, ‘Oh, I didn’t get your text.’”
Texting has been a part of our daily lives for more than a decade now. Question is who doesn’t text these days?
Back in 1999 when I got my first phone, which is a Nokia 3210 given by my mom, I was ecstatic but then I didn’t know who to text. Some of the people at home and in school didn’t have text service on their phone plans yet (Correct me if I’m wrong but prepaid was not introduced yet during this year, right?). One thing I remembered is that Globe offered it for free. So far, I can only remember texting my cousin Mai and 5 of my classmates. Back then, owning the bulky Nokia 3210 was already being the “coolest” of all.
It’s been a decade since and today, I know of no one who doesn’t have a cell phone, do you? Even our farm caretaker has one. We can’t deny it! Texting will always be a fad to the old and new generation. C’mon, it’s the cheapest way to communicate ever since it was launched! Back in college I usually spend P300-500 for text messaging every week! I had an LDR, so that explains it.
I have overcome overtexting in 2004, a couple of months after I started working. Well, it’s because we’re not allowed to use phones during office hours.
So here are some old & new text promos I got from Globe, Smart and Sun.

I’m more like the opposite of Kate Moore. If she can send a minimum of 400 texts a day, I can only send about 10 the most on a regular day. But if I’m on the road or in another town/city, I spend more. Okay, so here’s a few questions:
My answers: (1) Nokia 3210! (2) Blackberry Bold; (3) 10 pesos max!
Happy Texting!
LOL OMG. Power to you!!
I used to text as much as her.. I even managed to wipe out 600 pesos in a day. LOL to which, of course, my mom was fuming mad since there was no Autoload or Pasaload that time – or budget load.
Anyway, my answer to the questions:
1. What was your first phone? – It was an Alcatel phone that looked like Safeguard in Yellow Green! It looked like this, just different in color: http://www.solarnavigator.net/images/alcatel_max_db_black.jpg
2. What’s your ultimate dream phone? – I am a simple person, I want the Nokia E63 as of the moment.. but I honestly want a Blackberry or a Sidekick.
3. How much do you spend in texting nowadays? – give or take 5 pesos a day.. some days i can finish of 20 pesos.
LOL.. i want my NOKIA E63!!!!!!!!!
1. What was your first phone? I had my first phone in 2000. It was the coolest! While everyone else had a 3210, I had a One Touch Alcatel GSM phone, which I won when I joined a raffle in Inquirer (the newspaper). The backlight was colored green and even way back then, it’s features were superb. It even had a stylus pen that you can scribble memos on the phone itself.
2. What’s your ultimate dream phone? I want any updated blackberry. Mine is aged already.
3. How much do you spend in texting nowadays? I spend only P15 for texting everyday. I always enroll at Globe’s Unlimited Text Promo P80. It’s good for 5 days, making your daily unlimited texting expenses to only P15. It’s a good deal for me since I send 50-80 messages a day. NOTE: All are conversational and not forward messages.
1) Nokia 5110i – Got it back in 2001
2) Nokia E51 – Although I really don’t need a new phone right now as I don’t use it often, anyway
3) Depending on my mood – sometimes I load 200 then forget to register to UNLI (only to find that the load is used up in about 2 or 3 days), sometimes I load all text 20, and sometimes no load/texting at all (especially when my hubby is home).
I. First phone: Cant remember hahaha. I think its one of those heavy ones with an antenna by nokia lol. Nokia series 51–. ie. 5120,5160 or 5165 I’m leaning towards 5120 but i’m not sure. the phone sucked. I didn’t buy nokia phones again. lol
II. Dream phone: nothing in particular. though it has to have bluetooth, gps, world phone, at least 1G RAM, processor is at least 1Ghz, 5.0+ MP camera, 10G+ memory. Qwerty keys. supports wi-fi, GPS, vid and voice recordable, email/web, Micro sd cards 8G+. Multiple softwares( ability to install).
Now if there is one there available that has those specs tell me where i can find it
)
III. Texting cost: most of the time i just call lol but i do text too… lemme check my invoice;
total would be around $40-$50. dont ask about my bill for calls =)) also i have a roaming sim. #-o
